A court in Nashik on Monday granted bail to TCS employee Nida Khan in one of the alleged sexual harassment and religious conversion cases linked to the company’s office in the city. The relief came nearly two months after her arrest.

Additional Sessions Judge K G Joshi of the Nashik Road Court allowed Khan’s bail plea, citing grounds that included her pregnancy. However, the court rejected the bail application of co-accused Danish Shaikh.

Pregnancy Cited As Bail Ground For Khan

Khan was represented by advocate Rahul Kasliwal, while Public Prosecutor Vijay Gaikwad, along with the victim’s lawyers Milind Kurkute and Nitin Pandit, opposed the bail pleas of both accused, PTI reported.

According to the prosecution, the investigation uncovered evidence pointing to sexual assault and alleged religious coercion. It claimed that Shaikh had given the victim, a fellow employee, an Islamic book and a burqa with the intention of influencing her to convert.

The prosecution further alleged that the accused knowingly targeted the victim despite being aware that she belonged to a Scheduled Caste, and attempted to convert her while subjecting her to sexual exploitation.

SIT Probes 9 Cases Linked To TCS Office

The case stems from an FIR registered at the Deolali Camp police station under Sections 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means), 65 (sexual harassment) and 299 (outraging religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Both accused have also been booked under relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The case is one of nine being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Nashik police. The FIRs relate to allegations of sexual exploitation, attempted forced religious conversion, hurting religious sentiments, molestation and mental harassment of female employees at the TCS unit.

Following the allegations, TCS said it has a long-standing zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any kind and confirmed that the employees accused in the sexual harassment cases at its Nashik office have been suspended.
