TDP hails GST reforms, says rate cuts ease burden on people

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar said that no Central government in the last 50 years had dared to implement such radical tax reforms as the NDA, and the drastic rate cuts had eased the financial burden on the common people.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Mr. Vijay Kumar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken the bold step of substantially reducing GST rates at a time when the steep tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump posed a grave threat to the Indian economy. He asserted that the reduced GST rates would help bring down the prices of essential commodities and pave the way for fresh investments.

He noted that the exemption of life and health insurance premiums from GST had come as a big relief to people, while the zero tax on dairy products would give a major boost to the sector.

The real estate sector too would see significant improvement, he said, adding that various other relaxations announced by the GST Council would augment the nation’s wealth. The Andhra Pradesh government, he added, fully endorsed the GST reforms.
