Leaders of various teachers’ associations on Tuesday (October 21, 2025) strongly opposed the G.O.s 60 and 61, issued by the State government on Monday (October 20), which pertain to the payment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to employees and retired employees, respectively. Citing glaring anomalies, the associations demanded amendments.
In a statement, Andhra Pradesh United Teachers’ Federation (APUTF) State president N. Venkateswarlu and general secretary K.S.S. Prasad said that issues that did not come up for discussion during the talks between the teacher associations and Ministers and the department officials were added in the G.O. They also took strong exception to the government decision to pay the arrears of the DA announced to employees after their retirement.
“There is no mention of the employees who come under the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS),” they pointed out, adding that the decision to pay arrears to the retired employees in 12 installments in the financial year 2027-2028 was unacceptable. They said instead of paying four DAs, the government had announced only one DA which was not acceptable to the employees
Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) State president K. Bhanu Murthy and general secretary Chennupati Manjula said that the government order adversely affects employees, especially teachers, by reducing their salaries and creating anomalies in service benefits. They demanded withdrawal of G.O. and called for an immediate rectification of the pay anomalies.
Leaders of Navya Andhra Teachers’ Association (NATA) said that contrary to the government’s claim that the news had brought cheer among employees, the G.O. had only triggered severe discontentment.
The association’s State president K. Harikrishna and general secretary M. Srinivasa Rao said that the new G.O. declares that arrears will be paid only on the day of retirement or after the employee’s death.
The leaders urged the government to pay 90% of the arrears in cash into the accounts of employees under CPS and amend the new G.O. They questioned the logic behind withholding four DAs and releasing only one and denying arrears that are due to the employees.
