Kerala Aided Teachers’ Collective, a group of teachers who are yet to get government approval for their jobs, on Tuesday (August 12) took out a protest march and staged a dharna outside the office of the Deputy Director of Education against the alleged delay in fast-tracking their appointments.
Functionaries of the collective claimed in a press release that the process had been kept pending, citing court orders related to the appointment of differently abled people. Opening the march, P.V. Anvar, former MLA, said that around 16,000 teachers across the State had been affected by the delay. Though the Nair Service Society (NSS) and some other teachers had managed to get a court order to go ahead with the appointments, the government allowed only the NSS to proceed with the process. Mr. Anvar also claimed that many differently abled people with fake certificates had also got appointments as teachers.
