Teardrop bassist Kim Sang Young passes away at 41 after long battle with cancer

Indie group Teardrop’s bassist, Kim Sang Young, passed away after fighting a long battle with cancer. The idol was 41 at the time of passing, and left behind a long legacy of iconic music with his group.Taking to their official social media accounts, the group Teardrop shared the news of Kim Sang Young’s demise in a post on October 21. The post consisted of his photo along with the caption "Our beloved Teardrop bassist Kim Sang Young left us this morning at far too young an age. He was a friend who loved the band and music more than anyone else and was full of passion. We cannot contain the heavy and sorrowful feelings in our hearts.

Battle with cancer

As per reports from Ilgan Sports, the leader of the group, Kim Ho Se also shared more details about the idol, informing the public that Sang young had been battling cancer. He shared, "He had been battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy. His condition worsened around three to four months ago. He passed away early this morning."

Kim Sang Young joined the group after their second album was released, and served a major part of the group’s production process. Teardrop is well-known in the indie music scene, and also performed a lot at festivals, as well as clubs and other events. Even though receiving chemotherapy, the idol was still heavily involved in the making process of the group’s next full length album that is currently in production.Along with his career in the group, he was also a former editor-in-chief for an online channel that specialized in car reviews.The idol’s funeral will be held on October 23 and will be attended only by family members and close loved ones.
