A 14-year-old boy in West Bengal's Maheshtala was hung upside down and given electric shocks after being accused of stealing a mobile phone. The boy was employed at a jeans washing factory, and still remains missing.
A disturbing video of the incident went viral online, the authenticity of which could not be verified.
Two people, identified as Mustafa Kamal and Touhid Alam — both closely associated with Shahensha, the factory owner, have been arrested. However, the factory owner, who is the main accused, is absconding.
The factory has since been shut down, and the police are interrogating the arrested individuals to track Shahensha's whereabouts.
The incident has triggered outrage, and police say they are taking all necessary steps to bring those responsible to justice.
