Tej accorded Y+ security cover by Centre

Patna: Former Bihar deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, has been accorded Y+ category security by the Centre. The Union home ministry issued an order in this regard, citing security threats to him.

The upgraded security cover includes two personal security officers and nine CRPF commandos. The move comes amid heightened speculation about Tej Pratap’s political future, following his recent meeting with actor-turned-BJP MP Ravi Kishan. During the meeting, Ravi Kishan had remarked that the BJP’s doors remain open for Tej Pratap, describing him as “a devotee of Lord Shiva.”A senior police officer said, “Central security agencies submitted a special report to the home department just a few days ago regarding Tej Pratap’s security.

Following this, the department decided to provide him Y-plus security.”Reacting to the development on Sunday, Tej said, “My security has been increased, but I still feel a threat to my life.” Contesting from the Mahua assembly seat, he added, “I am in danger. My enemies can kill me. Now everyone seems like an enemy.” However, he did not specify who those enemies were or the source of the alleged threat.Tej was expelled from the RJD for six years by his father, Lalu Prasad, after he made a controversial social media post about his relationship with a woman. Following his expulsion, he floated a new party, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), and is contesting independently from Mahua in the ongoing Bihar assembly elections.
