Tej Pratap distributes flood relief in Raghopur, takes swipe at Tejashwi Prasad Yadav

Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav

Patna: The political tussle between RJD chief Lalu Prasad's two sons — leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and former minister Tej Pratap — took an interesting turn on Tuesday when the latter visited his younger brother's assembly constituency of Raghopur in Vaishali district to distribute relief materials among villagers severely affected by floods.

Tejashwi, by contrast, was seen on camera visiting his constituency and only inquiring about the well-being of the people on Monday.Tej, Lalu's elder son who was expelled from the RJD in May, was photographed seated on a motorboat laden with relief materials such as wheat flour, chura, biscuits, clothes, and medicines, distributing them among villagers alongside his team. He also brought a team of doctors who conducted health checks on residents trapped by the floodwaters.

Tej deployed five additional boats to assist those in distress.“The people of Raghopur are currently passing through hard times. They are asking for help, but the govt is not doing anything. We have come here to provide relief to the flood victims and are distributing relief materials and medicines among them,” Tej said on Tuesday.Subtly targeting his younger brother, Tej also advised the local Raghopur legislator to meet the flood victims and understand their pain and suffering after coming out of home and family.

Raghopur, currently represented by Tejashwi, has historically produced two chief ministers — Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi. Lalu represented the seat for two terms while his wife Rabri served three times. Since 2015, their son Tejashwi has held the seat in the Bihar assembly. On Monday, Tejashwi posted photographs on his social media accounts showing him inspecting the flood-affected areas and checking on residents.

"Reached out to Raghopur assembly constituency to inquire about the well-being of our own people," Tejashwi wrote on X late Monday evening.“Tejashwi has been regularly rushing relief materials among the flood victims without any promotion and publicity, while Tej Pratap ji wants to do just the opposite,” an RJD spokesperson said on Tuesday.Tej was expelled from the party in May after a photograph of him with a woman went viral on social media. Last month, he announced the formation of a coalition of five minor parties to contest the upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.
