The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued a warning after reports emerged of fraudsters making calls by impersonating ACB officials and demanding money from public servants. According to officials, callers from the mobile number 9154893428 threatened to register cases unless payments were made.
In one such instance, a complaint was lodged at the Saifabad police station in Hyderabad on Tuesday (September 2). The Director General of ACB clarified that officials from the Bureau never contact individuals to demand money for not registering cases. Government employees have been advised not to believe such calls or make any payments.
The ACB has appealed to public servants and citizens to report any such fraudulent calls on the Bureau’s toll-free number 1064 and to inform their local police stations. Complaints can also be made through WhatsApp, Facebook, or X, with assurances that the details of victims and complainants will be kept confidential.
