The Telangana BC Commission has decided to urge the Central government to take swift action regarding the inclusion of 40 castes in the Central list of Other Backward Classes (OBC) list.

A review meeting was held at the BC Commission’s office at Khairtabad, where various issues, including the collection of government employees’ data, were discussed. The commission also decided to hold a review meeting with secretaries of departments that failed to submit the information within the deadline.

Besides, the commission reviewed the arrangements for a public hearing scheduled for June 9, 10, and 11, regarding the 26 omitted castes. To submit a report to the Supreme Court, the commission decided to request the government to provide information from the Social Education Employment Economic Political Caste (SEEEPC) Survey such as details on population, socio-economic, and educational backwardness of these castes.

The panel also reviewed a report submitted by the Nizamabad Collector regarding the social boycott of BCs in Talla Rampur village and appreciated the district administration’s efforts in handling the matter.

The meeting was attended by Chairman G. Niranjan, members Rapolu Jayaprakash, Thirumalgiri Surender, Rangu Bala Lakshmi, and Bala Maya Devi, along with Member Secretary Srinivasa Rao, Deputy Director Satish Kumar, and Special Officer Lakshminarayana.
