Several representatives and delegates of the three‑day Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) conference hosted here praised the digital initiatives taken up by the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE), Telangana.
Learning about BIE’s digital monitoring and transparency measures, they toured the Command Control Room, which displays an advanced network connecting government junior colleges across the State.
The built‑in CCTV surveillance monitors exam centres and the daily attendance is captured via facial recognition systems. The practical and theory examinations are conducted under CCTV supervision to ensure fairness and accountability, the officials explained. Parents receive updates regarding student attendance, hall tickets, exam schedules and alerts via text messages and on WhatsApp.
BIE officials explained that for about 10 lakh Intermediate students, the digital systems help reduce malpractice risk and build trust in the education ecosystem.
The visiting delegates lauded the initiative and noted that Telangana’s model could serve as a blueprint for other boards, particularly those operating in geographically dispersed regions. They expressed interest in technical collaboration and knowledge‑sharing to replicate similar digital governance frameworks in their regions.
