Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called upon Maoists to surrender and join the mainstream, urging them to contribute to the nation’s progress.

Addressing the Police Commemoration Day Parade and paying homage at the Police Martyrs Memorial in Hyderabad, the chief minister hailed the Telangana Police for their exceptional role in maintaining peace and eradicating Naxalism and terrorism from the state.

“Telangana once suffered from Maoist and terrorist activities. The indomitable spirit of our police has led to a sharp decline in such movements. Several key Maoist leaders have already surrendered, and I appeal others to follow suit, shedding extremist ideology and joining the country’s development efforts. I commend the police for their exemplary service and courage in restoring normalcy and public confidence," Reddy said.

Paying tribute to the 191 police personnel who sacrificed their lives this year, including six from Telangana, the chief minister announced significant welfare measures for their families. He declared Rs 1 crore ex gratia, last drawn salary till retirement, a government job, and a 300-yard housing plot for the family of constable Pramod Kumar, who lost his life in Nizamabad.

Highlighting Telangana’s policing excellence, Reddy cited the India Justice Report 2025, which ranked Telangana Police first in the country. The Ministry of External Affairs also lauded Telangana’s transparent passport verification system. “The Telangana Police have earned society’s trust through selfless service and professionalism. Their work has made the state a model for policing in India."

The chief minister, while addressing emerging challenges, underscored the growing menace of cybercrime, digital fraud, morphing, and drug trafficking. He praised the Cyber Security Bureau’s performance and announced the creation of “Eagle"—an elite task force dedicated to making Telangana a “Drug-Free State."

Reddy applauded the increasing presence of women in leadership roles within the police department, noting that women IPS officers now head key wings such as the Police Academy, CID, Vigilance, and Cyber Security Bureau.

On welfare, he emphasised that Telangana offers the highest compensation in the country for police personnel who die or are injured in the line of duty, ranging from Rs 1 crore for constables to Rs 2 crore for senior officers. He also highlighted the newly established Young India Police School at Manchirevu, which provides world-class education to children of police personnel.

The chief minister reaffirmed that transparency, accountability, and ethical policing are vital for building public trust. He emphasised that “friendly policing" should protect law-abiding citizens while remaining firm against those who break the law, asserting that maintaining law and order is the foundation of Telangana’s rapid growth and prosperity.
