‘Telangana Dictionary’ on cards to preserve state’s unique dialects, culture and literature

HYDERABAD: To shed light on the vibrant tapestry of Telangana's dialect, culture, and literature, the Telangana Sahitya Akademi is embarking on an ambitious project to compile a comprehensive 'Telangana Dictionary'.

This will serve as a repository of ancient and contemporary terms that reflect the unique dialects of Telangana.To bring the 'Telangana Dictionary' to life, the Akademi plans to use scientific methods for word collection, classification and in-depth research in collaboration with literary experts from Telangana.

The Akademi is working on gathering rich variations in dialects and accents that exist between northern and southern Telangana. Notably, the linguistic landscape in Hyderabad differs significantly from that of the 9 former districts, each boasting its own distinct style of speech.
