Telangana Farmers’ commission flags paddy procurement issues

A delegation from the Farmers Commission met with Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday at the Secretariat to highlight the difficulties faced by farmers during ongoing paddy procurement.

The commission brought to the Minister’s attention the problems faced by farmers, mainly during paddy procurement, including the lack of proper receipts at procurement centres. Chairman M. Kodanda Reddy, members Gopal Reddy and Bhavani Reddy were part of the delegation.

Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy acknowledged the issues and instructed Civil Supplies Commissioner Stephen Ravindra to ensure that farmers receive proper receipts and are not put to inconvenience. He also directed that minimum facilities be provided for farmers at procurement centres.

The Minister assured the commission that action would be taken to address the complaints and prevent such incidents in the future.
