The Telangana Food Safety Department has found five food establishments violating the State government’s prohibition on the production, storage and sale of mayonnaise prepared from raw eggs during a statewide special enforcement drive conducted to ensure compliance with the ban.
According to the department, food safety officials inspected 131 food establishments across Telangana as part of the special drive. During the inspections, five establishments were found to be using or storing mayonnaise prepared from raw eggs in violation of the government’s notification.
Officials said 10 kg of mayonnaise made using eggs or broken eggs was seized and destroyed on the spot. Adjudication proceedings have been initiated against the violators under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The enforcement drive follows the Telangana government’s notification prohibiting the production, storage and sale of mayonnaise prepared from raw eggs across the State under Section 30(2)(a) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The prohibition came into force with immediate effect from October 30, 2025, and will remain in force for a period of one year.
