HYDERABAD: The Telangana high court on Tuesday issued notices to the state govt, directing it to file a detailed counter in response to a PIL seeking the enactment of a law to ensure the safety of lifts and escalators.
Currently, Telangana does not have any legislation governing lift and escalator safety.A bench comprising acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara issued the notices while hearing a PIL that originated from a letter written to the HC. The letter, which was converted into a PIL, cited a series of lift-related accidents and fatalities across the state. The bench granted four weeks to the govt to file its counter.
