Telangana tops in food security: Uttam

Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress government in Telangana was committed to guaranteeing food security, providing housing to the needy, and driving inclusive growth so that every citizen has the opportunity to live with dignity and progress.

Attired in traditional Lambada tribal headgear, Mr. Reddy hoisted the National Flag at the Suryapet District Collector’s office on Friday.

He said that the Congress government’s policies were designed to touch the lives of all, from the farmer in the field to the worker in the city, from women and children to the elderly and the most vulnerable.

“Today, Telangana stands out as the only State in India providing free fine rice to over 80% of its population, through PDS, a step that has ensured nutritional security for over three crore families,” he said, adding that the government was committed to completing all pending irrigation projects.
