India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its special weather report issued a red alert predicting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in Medak and Kamareddy, valid from 1.00 p.m Wednesday (August 27, 2025) to 8.30 a.m. Thursday.
And, heavy to very heavy rainfall was predicted as very likely to occur at isolated places in Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri and Sangareddy districts.
Heavy Rainfall is very likely in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajigiri, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal.
CM’s instructions
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed Electricity department staff to take precautions to ensure that devotees are not endangered by the electricity poles or transformers located near Vinayak pandals. Low-lying causeways and culverts on rivers, streams - where water is overflowing - have to be closed.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), Fire Services, Police and other departments have to work in coordination to ensure there are no issues in Hyderabad.
Irrigation Minister’s meeting
Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy is scheduled to hold a video conference in the afternoon, on the flood mitigation measures, present levels in all reservoirs in both Krishna and Godavari basins, pumping capacities at various projects and other aspects.
