Telangana is likely to experience above-normal nighttime temperatures and slightly warmer daytime conditions in November, according to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) monthly outlook for rainfall and temperature.
The State is part of the South Peninsular India meteorological subdivision, which also includes Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala and Mahe, South Interior Karnataka, and Puducherry and Karaikkal.
The IMD’s forecast indicates that minimum temperatures across most parts of the country will remain above normal during November. Only parts of northwest India are expected to see normal to below-normal minimum temperatures, placing Telangana outside the cooler zone. As a result, the State is likely to experience warmer-than-usual nights through the month.
In terms of maximum temperatures, most regions in India are expected to record normal to below-normal daytime temperatures. However, parts of southern peninsular India, including Telangana, could experience slightly above-normal maximum temperatures, leading to marginally hotter days.
On the rainfall front, the IMD has predicted that the country as a whole will receive normal rainfall in November. While most parts of India are likely to record normal to above-normal precipitation, certain regions in northwest India and sections of South Peninsular India, which could include Telangana, may experience below-normal rainfall.
Speaking about the rainfall witnessed in Hyderabad and other parts of the state over the past few days, Dharma Raju, scientist at the IMD Centre Hyderabad, said the showers were the result of a local convective system. “These are isolated weather systems that form when the land surface heats up during the day, causing warm, moist air to rise and condense into clouds. Such convective activity often results in short spells of light to moderate rainfall, particularly in the post-monsoon period. For now, this pattern is expected to continue for another day or two, after which dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across most parts of the State,” he said.
