KL Rahul and Kevin Pietersen’s fun banters made for fun viewing during the IPL 2025 season where both of them shared the Delhi Capitals dressing room. While Rahul had just slotted in from the Lucknow Super Giants, Pietersen had been roped in as mentor of the Delhi franchise for the season.

After Rahul’s superb knocks in the league, Pietersen would also laud the Karnataka batter for his changed mindset about batting in T20s. Pietersen had once posted on social media while on IPL commentary duties that, “Watching KL Rahul bat in the Powerplays is the most boring thing I have ever been through.”

The banter would continue when Rahul roasted Pietersen for flying off to the Maldives for a brief holiday between games in the league stage. Speaking on a recent podcast, Rahul revealed how his wife, Athiya Shetty, had questioned him for being rude to Pietersen. He also recounted his interaction with Pietersen’s wife during the 2025 tour to England in June.

“Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you also. There was this video, and there were two-three times where I said something and DC posted it on the Insta page. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy.’

“I said, ‘Half the things that he does to me and tells me, that doesn’t come out.’ This is three times that I have given out of the 100 times he is after my life. I complained to his wife when we were in UK. They invited me for dinner and I told, ‘Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me,'” said Rahul on the 2 Sloggers YouTube channel.

Rahul enjoyed a highly successful Test series in England, amassing 532 runs across 10 innings. This prolific run included two centuries and two half-centuries.
