Tension in Attapur and Mailardevpally

Mild tension prevailed in the Rambagh area of Attapur on Sunday (June 8, 2025) night after a group of individuals intercepted a vehicle transporting cattle and damaged it. The incident triggered a gathering of around 250 people from both communities, who reportedly raised religious slogans at the scene. A protest was staged there.

According to Bahadurpura police, the group smashed the windshield of the goods carrier. “A crowd from the Bahadurpura area moving towards Rambagh to join the protest was stopped with barricades to prevent further escalation,” a police official said.

The disturbance lasted for about 30 minutes, during which senior officials, including South Zone DCP Sneha Mehra, reached the location. Attapur police registered cases against those involved in the incident, and police platoons were deployed overnight to ensure security.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a few kilometres away in Mailardevpally, several individuals sustained injuries after stone-pelting by miscreants following a dispute related to cattle sacrifice and transport. On Sunday night, a mob attacked individuals transporting animal waste from the city to a local slaughterhouse. Vehicles were set ablaze, and the driver was assaulted. A case has been registered and an investigation is currently underway.
