Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday expressed condolence to the families of victims of the car blast near Red Fort in Delhi while pointing out that “the light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies".

In a post on X, Netanyahu said: “To our dear friend @narendramodi and to the brave people of India: Sara and I, and the people of Israel, send our deepest condolences to the families of the victims."

While expressing solidarity to India, he said that Israel “stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time".

“India and Israel are ancient civilizations that stand on eternal truths. Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls. The light of our nations will outshine the darkness of our enemies," he added.

The suspected suicide blast occurred on Monday evening near the Red Fort traffic signal, just a few metres from Chandni Chowk. A high-intensity explosive device planted in a slow-moving vehicle went off, killing 12 people. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the probe, while Delhi Police and other state units continue to trace the module behind the attack.

The blast came hours after the Haryana Police on Monday morning, along with Jammu and Kashmir Police, busted a “white-collar" terror module and arrested Dr Adeel Ahmad Rather and Dr Muzammil Shakil, close aides of Dr Umar.

The police also seized 2,900 kg of explosives and weapons such as assault rifles and pistols.

In response to the incident, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered heightened security measures across major cities in India.
