TGHRC takes suo-moto cognizance of The Hindu report on overflowing sewage inside Durgam Cheruvu park

The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has taken suo-motu cognizance of a report published in The Hindu highlighting the overflow of sewage within Durgam Cheruvu Park, a popular public space in Hyderabad.

In a notice issued on Friday, the Commission directed the Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), and the Member Secretary of the Telangana Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) to submit detailed reports on the issue by June 28.

“The situation highlights grave environmental and public health concerns due to continuous sewage overflow inside the Durgam Cheruvu Park, a public space maintained by the civic authorities,” the commission said.
