TGSPDCL engineer held for accepting ₹21,000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday arrested a divisional engineer of the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹21,000 from a complainant. The accused official was identified as Shaik Chand Shareef Basha of electrical-Operations, in Medak division.

According to the ACB, the officer demanded and accepted the bribe for processing a file related to the sanction of a transformer for the complainant’s poultry farm. The tainted cash was recovered from the possession of the accused.

He was arrested and later produced before the Special Court for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation, and the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons, the Bureau said.

Meanwhile, the ACB urged people to report any demand for bribes by government officials through its toll-free helpline 1064 or via WhatsApp at 9440446106. Complaints can also be made on the Bureau’s official social media handles, and the identity of the complainant will remain confidential.
