Jagdeep Chhokar, a founding member of the NGO Association for Democratic Reforms, passed away after devoting years to battling poll malpractices by political parties.
Academic and activist Jagdeep Singh Chhokar, whose unflagging passion for transparency and probity in electoral politics enlightened and empowered the Indian voter like nothing else, passed away following a heart attack on Friday.
He was 80.
A founding member of Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the NGO to which he remained devoted till the end, Chhokar, and his team, wrenched out two major victories against poll malpractices.
