Vande Bharat Express Train: Vande Bharat Express trains have revolutionized rail journey in the country. Since its inception in 2019, the trains have been running with full occupancies. These ultra-modern trains have not only reduced the travel time between cities but also improved the connectivity.

Vande Bharat Rake Formation

Currently, Vande Bharat trains operate in three coach configurations: 20-car, 16-car, and 8-car sets, across the rail network. With rising passenger demand, the national transporter is now adding more coaches to several of these trains.

Vande Bharat Rake details

As passenger demand for the Vande Bharat Express continues to rise on certain routes, the Railways has decided to upgrade the existing trainsets with revised configurations. Of the seven Vande Bharat trains, three 16-car trains will be replaced with 20-car rakes, while four 8-car trains will be upgraded to 16-car rakes.

“On the basis of occupancy for FY26 (up to July 31, 2025) and feasibility for augmentation, a tentative augmentation of three 16 Car Vande Bharat train services with 20 Car and four 08 Car Vande Bharat train services with 16 Car is planned. Further, 20 more Car rakes are to turn out in near future and after augmentation one 16 Car rake will also be available. After this, the released rakes of 16 Car & 08 Car will be utilized for running new services,” the railways said.
