Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT Cell chief Amit Malviya on Tuesday slammed Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over the Indian Youth Congress protest at the India AI Impact Summit, saying the Congress party celebrates actions that “humiliate India on the world stage".
“Perhaps that explains why today they celebrate protests that humiliate India on the world stage rather than standing up for the country’s dignity," Malviya mentioned in a post on X.
His remarks came as he reacted to a video in which Rahul Gandhi appeared to reference the Youth Congress protest during the summit held in the national capital.
Malviya alleged that Gandhi had expressed pride over the disruption caused by Youth Congress workers at the international event.
“Rahul Gandhi proudly declared, ‘members of the Youth Congress have done the act’, after Youth Congress workers staged a naked protest to disrupt the prestigious AI Summit in Delhi, embarrassing India on a global platform," Malviya wrote.
“Let that sink in," he added.
The BJP leader further criticised the Congress, saying the protest took place while global experts were discussing the future of artificial intelligence.
“When the world’s leading technology experts, policymakers, and innovators were discussing the future of Artificial Intelligence, the Congress party thought the best way to represent India was through disruption and indecency," he said.
MALVIYA CITES NEHRU-ERA EXAMPLE
Malviya also invoked India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, while criticising the Congress party.
“The irony is that even Jawaharlal Nehru, whom the Congress treats as its ideological fountainhead, once took a very different view about national character and loyalty," he said.
He referred to an episode from the 1950s following the death of Yeshwantrao Holkar II, when the question of succession to the Indore throne arose.
“In the 1950s, when the question of succession to the Indore throne arose after the death of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Holkar II, the issue was whether his American-born son, Richard Holkar, from his American wife, could inherit the legacy of the Holkar dynasty," Malviya wrote.
“After deliberation involving the government of the day, including Rajendra Prasad and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Nehru took a clear position: the heir to the throne should be the child born of an Indian mother," he said.
“The reasoning reflected the sentiment of a newly independent nation, that lineage, loyalty, and civilisational belonging mattered. Eventually, the government recognised Usha Devi Raje Sahib Holkar, daughter of the Maharaja from his Indian wife, as the rightful inheritor of the Holkar legacy," Malviya added.
“Nehru himself later justified this by saying that her recognition stemmed from the fact that she belonged by birth to the Holkar dynasty."
“The precedent was clear: national identity and loyalty were not abstract ideas, they were deeply rooted in origin and belonging," he wrote.
“Which brings us back to Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party today."
“If even Jawaharlal Nehru believed that a child born of a foreigner could not be trusted with the responsibility of representing the nation, why can’t the Congress see what Nehru himself said?" Malviya mentioned.

WHAT RAHUL GANDHI SAID
In the video shared by Amit Malviya, Rahul Gandhi could be seen speaking about the Summit while interacting with people.
In the clip, Gandhi can be heard saying, “People call it AI. You must have heard of AI. Have you heard of it?"
“The Summit that took place here. Have you heard of it? Yes? The Youth Congress has done the job," Gandhi added.
RAHUL GANDHI HAD EARLIER BACKED THE YOUTH CONGRESS
Earlier, Gandhi had expressed solidarity with the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) after the arrest of its national president Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with the protest at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
In a post on X, Gandhi praised the Youth Congress members and described their protest as part of India’s democratic tradition.
“Peaceful protest is our historical legacy. It is in our blood and is the democratic right of every Indian. I am proud of my Babbar Sher comrades in the Youth Congress, who have fearlessly raised their voices in the interest of the country against the ‘COMPROMISED PM’," Gandhi said.
He also criticised the framework of the India-US interim trade agreement, saying it compromises the interests of farmers, the textile industry, and the country’s data security.
“The Trade Deal with America has compromised the interests of the country. This agreement will harm our farmers and textile industry and hand over our data to America. The arrest of Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib and other IYC comrades for bringing this truth before the country is proof of dictatorial tendencies and cowardice," his post mentioned.
Gandhi further reiterated support for the Youth Congress members.
“The Congress Party and I stand firmly with our Babbar Sher comrades. Holding a mirror to the truth to power is not a crime, it is patriotism. Do not fear, truth and the Constitution are with us," he said.
Chib was arrested under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in connection with the protest, and the investigation into the incident was transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch.
