Thieves target jewellery store in Hangal

Haveri: Thieves have stolen a locker containing gold and silver articles from Sharada Jewellers at Chikkamshi Hosur in Hangal taluk in the early hours of Saturday. The thieves broke into the shop by cutting the two shutters and made off with the locker containing the valuables.

It is estimated that the locker had about 750 grams of gold jewellery and 4kg of silver articles. Fingerprint experts and a canine squad visited the crime scene. SP Yashoda Vantagodi, DSP, Shiggaon, DSP, Hangal, CPI, and PSI carried out an inspection. CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas is being reviewed to identify the culprits who struck the showroom around 1.30am. In the recent past, thefts were reported from houses and shops at Kalve, Araleshwar, and Balambid in Hangal taluk.
