Principal District and Session Judge Marula Siddaradhya has said that the third National Lok Adalat will be held on September 13 in all courts in the district.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that litigants in cases involving matrimonial, motor accidents, cheque dishonour, commercial, service, and compoundable consumer disputes, as well as partnership, land acquisition, and other cases, shall settle their disputes amicably during the Lok Adalat.
He stated that as many as 19,632 cases are pending in all courts in the district, and of these, 3,003 cases have been identified for settlement. This figure is expected to increase by the date of the Lok Adalat.
A special drive
The 90-day special drive — Arbitration for Nation — which commenced on July 01, will conclude on October 6, and litigants in the compoundable cases can get their pending cases settled during the ongoing special drive before that, he said.
As many as 1,627 pending cases have been settled in the drive so far. The litigants should obtain information about the cases pending before the High Courts of Karnataka at Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Kalaburagi, respectively, he said.
The judge stated that the newly constructed district court has begun functioning. However, it will be officially inaugurated next month.
The taluk courts in Gurmitkal and Hunsagi are expected to be established within the next two months, as the process of identifying suitable land or space is under way, he said.
