Threatened, gang-raped, cash, phones stolen: Woman sexually assaulted,robbed by 5 at Bengaluru home; 3 held

BENGALURU: Police Wednesday said a 27-year-old woman from Bengal was allegedly gang-raped and robbed at her residence here. Three of the accused were arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend two others, police added.The incident reportedly occurred around 9pm Tuesday at Gangondanahalli. "The accused threatened her and took turns sexually assaulting her. They then fled with Rs 25,000 in cash and two mobiles," police said.

"A deputy SP-rank officer was assigned to the investigation. After speaking to the survivor and others in the house, we learned five people entered the residence. We have formed three special teams under the inspector of each police station in Nelamangala sub-division," said C K Baba, superintendent of police, Bengaluru Rural. "We need to interrogate the accused to ascertain if the survivor and accused knew each other. Her condition is out of danger," he added.Police said besides the survivor, a woman, two adults and two children were in the house during the incident. PTI
