Three arrested for murder, two absconding

The Kurnool I Town police on Monday (September 08, 2025) arrested three people for their alleged involvement in murder of a man on September 1, 2025 in Kurnool city.

Kurnool DSP K. Babu Prasad produced the accused before the media on Monday, said, “The accused identified as Shaik Irfan Saleem, Shaik Jaheen Ahmed alias Jahangir, S.M.D. Irfaz, Imran, and Yusuf allegedly killed one Shaik Izhar Ahmed on September 1 over differences and old rivalry”. All of them hailed from various parts of the city, he added.

On September 1, after offering prayers, Shaik Izhar Ahmed and his father, Shaik Ghouse Nissar Ahmed, were leaving a mosque when the accused attacked him with knives before fleeing the scene. Ahmed died while undergoing treatment the same day.

The police arrested Irfan Saleem, Jahangir and Irfaz and produced them before the court while Imran and Yousuf are absconding. Three knives and two bikes used in the offence were seized.
