In a recent incident near Raxaul, security personnel apprehended three Bangladeshis trying to cross into India from Nepal without proper documentation. Their inconsistent statements raised suspicions, leading to the arrest of an Indian citizen suspected to be their guide. Authorities are now conducting investigations to uncover the reasons behind their attempted entry and their planned whereabouts.
Motihari: A Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) team arrested three Bangladesh nationals near Raxaul on the India-Nepal border while they were attempting to enter Bihar territory illegally along with an Indian middleman on Wednesday.According to immigration office sources, the arrested Bangladeshi nationals did not have valid documents and were providing inconsistent statements. Sources said they stayed in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, for an extended period alongside other Bangladeshi nationals. It is also learned that they had entered Nepal through an open route from West Bengal. Following the arrests, security and intelligence agencies have launched extensive investigations to uncover the full details.The SSB had received inputs about suspicious people in the border area, prompting its personnel to cordon off the vicinity and arrest them.The arrested Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Mohammad Olure Rahman, Mohammad Sofaz and Mohammad Firoz. The arrested Indian citizen was identified as Mohammad Sarfaraz, a resident of Chanpatiya in West Champaran. Sarfaraz is believed to have acted as the primary guide, helping the foreigners cross the border.
Central investigative agencies and the police are jointly probing the matter to determine the purpose of the foreigners’ entry into India or travel through Nepal. Security agencies are now working to establish the intended destination of the Bangladeshi nationals and whether they possessed fraudulent Indian documents.
