Three Bihar SHOs, Returning From Training, Killed After SUV Crashed Into Truck In Begusarai

Three SHOs and their driver died after their SUV rammed a truck on NH-31 in Begusarai. CM Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the incident.

Three police station house officers and their driver were killed early on Friday when their vehicle rammed into a truck on National Highway-31 in Bihar’s Begusarai district, officials said. The officers were returning from a training programme in Patna when the accident took place, plunging the state police force into mourning.

The collision took place near Bakhadda Dhala in Begusarai. According to officials, the victims included three SHOs from Madhepura district. SHOs Sajan Kumar Paswan of Ratwara, Gyanendra Amarendra of Arar and Neeraj Kumar of Belari died on the spot.

The driver of the SUV, identified as Jyotish Kumar, was critically injured in the crash and later succumbed to his injuries during treatment, DSP (traffic) Ranjit Kumar said.

Begusarai Superintendent of Police (SP) Manish Kumar told PTI, “Four people lost their lives in an accident in Begusarai. Three police officers who were serving SHOs, and a driver were killed in the incident. The car carrying them rammed into a truck around 12.30 to 1 am while they were on their way to Madhepura. The investigation is underway and the bodies have been sent for a postmortem"

Bihar CM Expressed Grief

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the incident. In a post on X, he wrote, “The news of the untimely death of three station house officers and their driver in the tragic road accident in Begusarai is extremely saddening and painful. This irreparable loss is a deep shock to the entire police fraternity."

Police said the SUV carrying the officers crashed into a truck while they were on their way back from the training session in Patna. A probe has been initiated to determine the exact cause and sequence of events leading to the accident.
