Three Class 6 Students Went Missing In Shimla During School Outing, Found A Day Later

Three students from a private school in Shimla, who went missing on Saturday, have been found safe in the Kotkhai area of Shimla district on Sunday.

The boys, all Class 6 students, disappeared during a routine weekend outing, leading to a large-scale search by police and the local community.

Officials stated that the boys left the school campus around 12:10 pm on Saturday with an official gate pass to visit Mall Road. The outing was planned as part of the school’s scheduled plan. They were supposed to return to the hostel by 5 pm along with other students. However, when they did not return on time, the school staff got concerned and alerted the police.

Following this, a kidnapping case was registered at the New Shimla police station on complaint from the school principal, India Today reported.

Search teams were deployed throughout the city, and CCTV footage from various locations was reviewed to trace the children’s movements.

Later, it was revealed that the boys were eventually found in Kotkhai, a rural area about 50 kilometres from Shimla city. The details of how they ended up there have not been disclosed yet, and further investigation is ongoing.

The accused had suffered losses in online trading and was deeply distressed by a financial crisis, which allegedly led to his criminal act, India Today reported, citing sources.

As an alumnus of the same school, he was familiar with certain aspects of school outings. Under the pretext of offering the children a lift, he made them sit in his car and drove them to the Kotkhai area of Upper Shimla.

Authorities have reported that the children were not harmed. They are now back in safe custody, and their families have been informed.
