Three killed, three others injured after oil tanker hits highway workers on Pune-Bengaluru NH

Three road workers died and three others were injured when an oil tanker hit them on the Pune- Bengaluru National Highway near Itagi village in Belagavi district on Sunday (June 1, 2025).

Police said the deceased were Ramachandrappa, Ramanna and Mahesh and the injured were Lakshmibai, Anushree and Bheema Bai, all from Kalaburagi district.

The tanker driver lost control and the vehicle slipped to the side. There was some oil leakage also. The labourers, who were working on highway maintenance, suffered grievous injury and died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences.

Officers from the Kittur Police Station visited the spot and cleared the road for traffic. A case is being registered.
