Three persons arrested on murder charges in Tiruvannamalai

Three persons were arrested by Dusi police near Cheyyar town in Tiruvannamalai on Thursday for murdering a wielder over a petty quarrel on lending money.

The police said the arrested persons were K. Balaji, 21, S. Babu, 24, and V. Yuvaraj, 27, all residents of Abdullapuram village near Cheyyar town. Initial inquiry revealed that they were consuming liquor near a TASMAC outlet on the roadside when K. Kabali, 25, was returning home. The gang stopped him and allegedly demanded money from him to buy more liquor.

After Kabali refused to give them money, they got into a heated argument with him. In a fit of rage, the gang attacked him with sharp weapons and fled the spot.

Immediately, the passersby and motorists alerted the police. They rushed Kabali to the Government Taluk Hospital in Cheyyar where the doctors declared him brought dead. A case was registered.

Police nabbed the gang from the hideout after analysing CCTV footage from the area and local alerts. The accused persons have been lodged in the Central Prison, Vellore. A probe is underway.
