Three police personnel, including an Inspector of Police, have been suspended in the wake of a history-sheeter’s murder at Kattumannarkovil in Cuddalore district on Wednesday (June 11, 2025).

The police said the deceased Praveen Raj, 24, who had several criminal cases against him in various police stations, was allegedly murdered by a gang at his house on Wednesday evening.

While Deputy Inspector General of Police (Villupuram Range) Disha Mittal issued suspension orders to Inspector Arumugam, attached to the Kattumannarkovil police station, on the ground that he had failed to prevent the murder, Superintendent of Police S. Jeyakumar ordered the suspension of Sub-Inspector Anbazhagan and Special Sub-Inspector Raja on charges of laxity.

According to the police, Praveen Raj had an altercation with a group while participating in a bike race in Kattumannarkovil a few days ago. However, there was no follow-up action by the officials, which could have potentially prevented the murder, the police said.
