After opening to a decent start, Kamal Haasan's much-anticipated film 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam, is experiencing a steady decline in its box office numbers. The movie had immense hype since its release with two of the most prominent filmmakers collaborating; however, it is reportedly struggling to hit the Rs 50 crore mark in India even after nine days of release.As per trade analyst Sacnilk, the movie saw its collections dip under Rs 1 crore, collecting just around Rs 75 lakhs on its second Friday, as per the early estimates. This makes it the film's lowest single-day figure since its release.The week started strong with an impressive Rs 15.5 crore on Day 1, but the momentum quickly dropped. On the second day, the movie only collected Rs 7.15 crore, followed by Rs 7.75 crore on Day 3.
Despite weekend footfalls, the numbers failed to cross expectations.After its first week run, it could only mint over Rs 44 crore. With day nine's estimated earnings, the film's total collection in India now stands at approximately Rs 44.75 crore.Theatre occupancyThe film's occupancy rates on Friday show that in the Tamil version, the overall occupancy was 17.43%, with a gradual rise from 12.35% in the morning shows to 22.05% at night.
The Hindi version fared slightly better with an overall 20.36% occupancy, peaking in the evening at 29.71% but dipping to 11.5% at night. The Telugu version showed similar patterns with a 20.30% overall occupancy, having its highest engagement during afternoon shows at 29.69%.About the filmIn the film Kamal Haasan is seen portraying the character of Rangaraaya Sakthivel, who adopts T.R. Silambarasan as Amaran. However, the plot intensifies when an assassination attempt takes place.The film features Trisha Krishnan, T.R. Silambarasan, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ashok Selvan, Joju George, Nassar, Ali Fazal, and Mahesh Manjrekar in key roles.
