Tia Mowry is talking candidly about overcoming the difficulties that come with divorce. The 46-year-old Tia Mowry: My Next Act star posted open-ended questions on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, June 25.
"Girl, how the hell do I recover from this divorce?" was one of the queries posed by a fan.
"God bless me, Chile!"When Mowry announced in October 2022 that she and Cory Hardrict were divorcing after 14 years of marriage, she went through her own divorce. The couple, who divorced in April 2023, had a 7-year-old daughter named Cairo and a 13-year-old boy named Cree. Her counsel was straightforward: "dive into doing the work," she advised the admirer, and "really, truly focus on self-care." "Pay attention to the things that bring you joy and happiness. Create a support network, a group of friends, and a tribe. Engage in meditation. Take up some new pastimes. "Read healing books," she said.As she put it, "spend time with your kids if you have them, or just surround yourself with people who genuinely love and support you.""Take part in enjoyable and rewarding activities. If you can, take a trip. I found that travelling was incredibly beneficial.
"Creating new experiences is the key," she stated. "The more experiences you have, the further away you get from that heavy, gut-wrenching feeling of divorce." Her final piece of advice was something Mowry had already discussed."Don't be afraid to cry, too. Let yourself experience everything. "Just try not to let it get to you," she said. "I hope that helps." As a mother, she explained, "you sort of try to figure out whether you should allow them to see your emotions, your ups and downs."
Additionally, I've decided to leave an authentic place. And let [Cairo] know that Mommy gets depressed sometimes. And that's alright."According to her, she provides Cairo and Cree with "that space to express and just to be authentic." Mowry went on, "And it's not about covering up, you know, things," "And I think when you move in authenticity, there's healing, there's growth — and I've allowed my children to do that as well."
