Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) P. Narayana said all TIDCO housing projects at 163 locations in the State would be completed by March 31, 2026.
Mr. Narayana on Saturday (September 6) inspected the TIDCO houses at Jagannatha Gattu on the outskirts of the city along with Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath, party MLAs and officials. Speaking to the media later, Mr. Narayana said the Chandrababu Naidu-led government in 2014-19 approved construction of seven lakh TIDCO houses, gave administrative sanction for five lakh houses and called tenders for 4.74 lakh houses. The same was later cut down to 1.16 lakh houses by the YSRCP government, he said.
The MA&UD Minister said the Shear Wall technology, which was used in countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China and Russia, was adopted in the construction of TIDCO houses by Mr. Chandrababu Naidu making the house earthquake-resistant and also affordable.
“The houses will be constructed with all infrastructural facilities like quality tiles, granite slab in kitchen, racks and others. The township will also have road and drainage facility, parks, a community hall and a school,” he said. Mr. Narayana also took a dig at the previous government for painting the houses with their party flag colours.
Mr. Narayana instructed officials to take up vegetation clearance near the TIDOC houses by Sunday evening and assured to release an amount of ₹6 crore coming Monday to take up works relating to drinking water pipelines and others and the same will be completed within one-and-half month.
The Minister said 2,064 houses have been completed and handed over to the beneficiaries while another 1,064 houses were completed recently and the same will be handed over to the Kurnool Municipal Corporation officials for handing over them to the beneficiaries. “Another 3,056 houses will be completed by December and the remaining 3,826 will be completed by March 31 next year,” he said. Mr. Narayana also assured to set up a police outpost, bus facility to the township on the request of the locals and also for allotment of 10 acres for setting up of an MSME park.
Mr. Narayana said the encroachments in municipal parks in the city will be cleared soon. Mr. Bharath said Mr. Narayana has responded positively to his request for allocating 10 acres for MSME park and the setting up of the park will provide employment to 1,000 families in the township. “The allocation of ₹6 crore funds and completion of water pipeline will ensure that more beneficiaries shift to the township. The township will be completed with all facilities by March end next year,” he said.
