Tiruvarur govt. college principal booked for sexually harassing guest lecturer

The principal of a government arts and science college in the district had been booked for sexually harassing a woman guest lecturer working in the same college.

The college has over 1,000 students, including a large number of women from nearby rural villages. According to the complaint, the accused, Principal Ramasubramaniam, had been repeatedly making inappropriate advances towards her.

The complainant alleged that the principal insisted she meet him in private, sent her suggestive messages on her phone offering to “help with anything she needed,” and on one occasion, placed his hand on her shoulder while speaking. The lecturer filed a formal complaint with the Nannilam All-Women Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the principal and have launched an investigation.
