Chennai: Tamil Nadu has a growing presence and is becoming a leading state in the electronics sector with many new projects being opened, union electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said.
Speaking through a video conference at an event in IIT Madras Research Park on Tuesday, he said electronics manufacturing is one of the thrust areas for the govt with the progress made in mobile phone manufacturing, laptop manufacturing, server manufacturing. “Our Prime Minister’s vision for making Tamil Nadu as one of the major manufacturing hubs for electronics is now getting realised. One more electronic manufacturing cluster has been approved recently and I hope to see its construction very soon.
That is the way we are hoping that Tamil Nadu will get the most modern industry,” he said.Referring to a project on making artificial intelligence accessible in Tamil, he said Indian languages get incorporated in the AI models will democratise technology. The AI mission is developing common compute facilities, develop models which can be used in a very diverse society like ours and keeping AI safe, he said, adding that the initiative of improving Tamil in AI will also be a part of the AI mission.
