Toddler dies after falling into bucket of water

A baby boy died after he fell into a water bucket near his house at Chettithangal village near Ranipet town on Sunday.

Police said the victim has been identified as S. Dinesh, son of the couple N. Sivakumar, a welder, and S. Vani Sivakumar and his family were waiting in front of their house to see the temple chariot procession conducted, as part of a local festival. Later, they found their son in a bucket filled with water near their house.

 Police said such water-filled buckets are kept in front of houses to sprinkle water on the streets to keep it cool. . The body was sent to postmortemand a case was registered. A probe is underway.
