Toddler run over by father’s vehicle in Abdullapurmet

A 13-month-old boy was run over by a goods carrier driven by his father on Monday morning in Abdullapurmet.

Abdullapurpet police Inspector V. Ashok Reddy said that the incident occurred around 8 a.m. when the victim, identified as K. Lohith, was playing with a ball outside his hut on Laskerguda road.

“While retrieving the ball, he crawled under the goods vehicle parked nearby. His father, Naresh, 24, an auto driver, allegedly failed to notice the child before moving the vehicle. The boy came under the rear wheel and died of head injuries,” said the officer.

The child’s mother, Vani, 21, lodged a complaint with Abdullapurmet police, who registered a case under section 106(1) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the BNS and began an investigation.
