Silver has always held a special place in the world of jewellery. In 2025, global silver production is driven by a mix of traditional mining powerhouses and emerging industrial economies.
According to the annual World Silver Survey 2025, the world produces over 820 million ounces of silver every year. There are 10 nations that contribute the majority of global output and Mexico tops the chart.Let’s have a look at the complete list:Mexico – 202.2 Million Ounces (24%)Mexico has topped the chart of the world’s largest producer of silver. The country accounts for about 24% of total global production. The mining industry is deeply rooted in history, with large-scale operations like Fresnillo and Peñasquito leading output.

Much of its silver comes as a by-product of large base-metal mines. China is also a major consumer and refiner of silver, using it in electronics and renewable energy.Peru – 107.1 Million Ounces (13%)

Peru is on the number three position on the list. It produced some 107.1 million ounces of silver in 2025.
The country’s rich mineral deposits in the Andes and famous mines like Antamina and Uchucchacua make Peru one of the world’s most resource-rich and silver-rich nations. Chile – 52 Million Ounces (6%)

Chile holds the fourth rank on the list by contributing about 6% of global silver production. Mining operations such as Codelco and the expanding Salares Norte project have strengthened Chile’s position in global rankings. The nation’s mining sector benefits from political stability and consistent investment, driving steady increases in silver output.Bolivia – 42.6 Million Ounces (5%)Fifth spot on the list is taken by Bolivia. The country was once home to the legendary Cerro Rico silver mountain. It contributes nearly 42.6 million ounces of silver yearly. Silver mining has been central to Bolivia’s economy for centuries, and the tradition continues through both state and private mining ventures. Poland – 42.5 Million Ounces (5%)

Poland ranks sixth in the silver production. It produces 42.5 million ounces of silver. The silver is extracted as a by-product from copper mining.
The KGHM Polska Miedź mine is one of the largest integrated copper and silver producers in the world. Russia – 39.8 Million Ounces (5%)The seventh position is taken by Russia. The country produces some 39.8 million ounces of silver annually. Firms like Polymetal International and Norilsk Nickel drive most of the country’s production. Russia continues to expand its role in the global silver supply chain.Australia – 34.4 Million Ounces (4%)

Australia holds eighth position on the list and contributes some 34.4 million ounces.
Its silver output comes primarily from lead-zinc mines like Cannington and Mount Isa in Queensland. Australia’s modern operations ensure efficient extraction and sustainable growth in silver production.United States – 32 Million Ounces (4%)The ninth spot is taken by the United States which produces 32 million ounces of silver every year. Most of the silver output comes from mines in Nevada, Alaska, and Idaho, where it is often recovered as a secondary product from gold and copper extraction.
U.S. silver mining remains a prime contributor to global supply.Argentina – 26 Million Ounces (3%)

Argentina is on the top 10 rank with an annual production of 26 million ounces. Silver mining here is centered around projects in the Santa Cruz and Jujuy provinces. With new mines under development, Argentina is expected to see gradual growth in its silver industry over the next few years.
