Green Bay Packers Year 2 linebacker Edgerrin Cooper recorded 12 combined tackles(8 solo and 4 assisted) in the team’s opening game of the 2025 NFL season against Jared Goff’s Detroit Lions.

Following this standout performance, Cooper posted on Instagram: “I’ll be Lion if I said I’m not the 1️⃣.” Fans quickly reacted with comments such as, “Bro had that caption planned 🔥,” and “Top 2 not 2”—probably hinting at the Packers' newly acquired defensive end Micah Parsons. A third fan even bestowed a nickname: “Caption #1 and Cowboy Coop is #1.”

Edgerrin Cooper shared 12 Instagram snapshots following the Green Bay Packers' 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions

Out of the 12 Instagram snapshots shared by Edgerrin Cooper, three featured him decked up as a cowboy—complete with a typical denim sky-blue shirt, cowboy pants, a cowboy hat, and a white, orange, and black-colored duffel bag.

He completed the cowboy look with black round goggles and cowboy boots.

The remaining snapshots captured moments from the Detroit vs. Green Bay game—showcasing an amalgam of gestures, tackles, and breathtaking plays. One particularly notable snapshot depicted Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff throwing the ball to running back David Montgomery near the end zone.

Cooper, close behind the running back, tackled him just seconds before he could score a touchdown.

Following the tackle, Cooper walked away with absolute finesse. Another snapshot highlighted a combined tackle—credits to the photographer.

Instagram users showered enthusiastic praise on Edgerrin Cooper’s post

The 2025 season marks Edgerrin Cooper’s second year, but the adoration from Packers fans? It's exceptional! One Instagram commenter on Cooper’s post exclaimed, “Cowboy coooop, packer nation loves you keep ballin!”

Another commenter wanted the linebacker to get a Defensive Player of the Year award, writing, “Best LB in the league give this man DPOTY rn🔥.” A third simply said, “That caption is fire.” Cooper’s caption read: “’ll be Lion if I said I’m not the 1️⃣.” This clever phrasing played on two meanings: celebrating the defeat of the Detroit Lions and using “Lion” as a homophone for “lyin’” or “lying.”
