Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Thursday hailed the key role played by the Non-Resident Telugus (NRTs) in the formation of the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking at a get-together organised by the Jana Sena Party (JSP) supporters in London, Mr. Durgesh said Telugu people living in the U.S., the U.K., and the Gulf countries worked tirelessly for the success of the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, without expecting any personal gain.

Despite their busy schedules, they had the welfare of their homeland in mind and contributed their mite for the victory of a government that believed in democratic principles, the Minister said, and thanked them for their sincere efforts. He praised the NRTs for investing in Andhra Pradesh, thus contributing to its development and strengthening the State’s cultural connections.

Mr. Durgesh said the TDP, the JSP, and the BJP had collectively ended the “oppressive and dictatorial rule” that existed in Andhra Pradesh between 2019 and 2024.

"With everyone’s cooperation, the ruling government has now ushered in a new era of democratic governance,” he said.

The Minister said Andhra Pradesh was marching on the path to progress and prosperity under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
