Jog Falls, one of the major tourist attractions of Karnataka, located near Sagar, has been attracting hundreds of tourists on a regular basis. On weekends, the number of visitors increase, making it difficult for local authorities to manage the crowd.
As civil works are currently under way in the region, visitors are required to park their vehicles outside the enclave. A high footfall was observed on Sunday, August 17, as tourist vehicles were parked for about a kilometre on either side of the entrance to the falls. The Jog Development Authority had to deploy security staff to manage the huge number of visitors. Amidst heavy rains, visitors had to wait for the winds to clear the mist in order to get a glimpse of the majestic falls.

Following sustained downpour in Tirthahalli, Hosanagar, and Sagar taluks, the Sharavathi has been flowing in spate. The river takes a plunge forming four cascades, popularly known as Majestic Raja (height 253 metre), Graceful Rani, Swift Rocket, and Boisterous Roarer. The thick greenery adds beauty to the falls.
The State government has taken up development works at the place at a cost ₹183 crore. The plan includes the construction of a hotel, a shopping complex, an art gallery, a parking facility, a drainage system, a bus shelter, a security house, toilets, and roads within the area managed by the Jog Management Authority.
