BENGALURU: A Bengaluru-based general physician has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, also a doctor, and passing it off as a natural death. Police said the accused, Dr Mahendra Reddy, who works at Victoria Hospital, confessed to killing his wife, Dr Kritika Reddy, a dermatologist at the same hospital, six months ago.
At the time of her death, family members were told that she had died of health complications, and no suspicion was raised.
However, the case took a turn after forensic reports revealed the presence of toxic substances in Kritika’s body. Following the report, police questioned Mahendra, who allegedly admitted to poisoning her. According to investigators, Mahendra told police he was upset after discovering that Kritika had concealed certain health issues before their marriage. Police said further investigation is underway to determine how the poison was administered and whether anyone else was involved.
