TP-Link India has announced the commencement of local manufacturing for its Wi-Fi 7 product portfolio, becoming one of the first global networking brands to commit to producing next-generation connectivity solutions in India.
The move follows the Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) January 2026 notification delicensing the lower 6 GHz spectrum band, paving the way for nationwide adoption of Wi-Fi 7.The company will begin with the Omada EAP770 enterprise access point, manufactured locally under the Make in India initiative. TP-Link plans to progressively expand localisation across its broader Wi-Fi 7 portfolio to serve domestic enterprise demand and eventually evaluate select international markets.
Currently, nearly 92% of TP-Link India’s sales are already locally manufactured, with a target of reaching 96–97% localisation over the next three years.Sanjay Sehgal, MD and CEO of TP-Link India, said: “Manufacturing Wi-Fi 7 products in India reflects our long-term commitment to supporting the country’s digital infrastructure ambitions and the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. With the opening of the 6 GHz band, India is entering a transformative phase in enterprise connectivity.”
He added that TP-Link is strengthening manufacturing capabilities, expanding R&D, and investing in partner development to position India as a strategic supply hub for global markets. The DoT notification unlocks 500 MHz spectrum in the 5925–6425 MHz band for licence-exempt usage. Wi-Fi 7 promises higher network capacity, lower latency, and improved reliability — critical for cloud computing, video collaboration, IoT ecosystems, and AI-driven applications in high-density environments.TP-Link has introduced a comprehensive range of Wi-Fi 7 access points under its Omada portfolio, covering indoor, outdoor, and in-wall deployments. The locally manufactured Omada EAP770 is a tri-band ceiling-mount enterprise access point designed for campuses, hospitals, retail, hospitality, and educational institutions. It integrates with TP-Link’s Omada SDN platform, enabling centralised and cloud-based management across distributed networks. The announcement builds on TP-Link’s ambition to establish its largest global manufacturing facility in India over a five-year horizon, alongside its Mumbai headquarters and Bengaluru R&D centre. With Wi-Fi 7 localisation, TP-Link is not only addressing India’s evolving technology requirements but also positioning the country as a key player in global networking supply chains.
